Straits Skyboxes available at Whistling Straits for PGA championship
In August, spectators will have the opportunity to see the strongest field in major championship golf at Whistling Straits, which will host its second PGA Championship since opening in 1998.
For the PGA’s return, Whistling Straits has introduced the Straits Skyboxes, located on the Ninth and Eighteenth holes, with the ability to expand to additional holes. Companies can purchase individual sections of a Skybox, which can accommodate up to 24 people. The Skyboxes are open-air, and include theater-style seating, TVs and are fully inclusive of food and beverage.
“We are excited to introduce a unique, on-course experience for our guests on the Straits Course for the 92nd PGA Championship,” says Barry Deach, championship director. “We’ve listened to our customers and current patrons of championships at Whistling Straits who have asked us to expand the on-course experience, and we are answering the call.”
In addition to on-course hospitality, the Corporate Hospitality Village is being relocated closer to the heart of the action. The new location, dubbed “Irish 10,” is situated just 100 yards in back of the Tenth tee and near both the Strait’s clubhouse and practice range.
“Whistling Straits has an unforgettable look and feel. The addition of on-course hospitality will only enhance the overall spectator experience,” says Scott Anderson, general chairperson of the championship and president of Kohler Co.’s Hospitality and Real Estate Group. “The on-course Skyboxes will add another dimension to the world-class tradition of the PGA Championship and Whistling Straits.”
The 92nd Annual PGA Championship will be held at Whistling Straits on Aug. 9-15, 2010.
Carrier announces growth plans for regional fleet
Green Bay based Schneider National plans to grow its regional driving fleet to 2,500 in 2010, offering experienced drivers across the country an opportunity to enjoy the stability of a large carrier with weekly time at home or better.
“Work-life balance is more important than ever to today’s professional truck driver,” says Mike Hinz, vice president, Schneider National. “Schneider’s regional driving opportunities are a perfect fit for those drivers who want to make a good living with a company that will be here tomorrow, and at the same time, enjoy more time at home with their families.” Schneider now offers regional driving opportunities across the U.S. with operations offices in the West, Southwest, Midwest, Southeast and Northeast regions. Strong reception of the service by customers and drivers alike has accelerated Schneider’s regional expansion plans. Hiring will continue throughout the year and all 2,500 drivers will be in place by December 2010.
According to Hinz, Schneider’s rapid expansion is due to a growing freight base within each of its five regions. “The customer demand for our regional service has exceeded our expectations and created enough freight density to get drivers home weekl,” he said.
In addition to the new regional driving opportunities, Schneider will continue to provide long-haul service for customers.
